CNA Classes In Maryland
It is legislated that all CNA classes in Maryland are to be approved by the state. This means that only certain training programs can ensure your entry into the exam and subsequent registration as a CNA. You can see that the fees and the hours are very different depending on which CNA training facility you choose to study from. There are programs that take as few as 72 hours or as many as 304 hours and range from $200 to up to $3,300. It is important to note that the state of Maryland has a minimum class duration of 100 hours, which needs to include traditional CNA classes and hands-on training working in a licensed nursing home.

Writing The State CNA Exam
There are half a dozen sites where the final exam can be written, and you must apply through Pearson Vue to take the exam. There is a fee for sitting in the exam, which is $95.00. You can find the application here and will need to send the fee and the completed application to the address listed on the application form (American Red Cross). You can opt to test at a Pearson Vue test site or in the facility where you received your CNA training. Simply follow the directions on the application.
Maryland CNA Certification Process
First, ensure that you have successfully completed the classes for your state approved CNA training program. Once you have written and passed the exam, then you are eligible to be certified.

Note that you will be required to provide your Social Security Number as well as other personal information. Ensure that your name is written exactly as it is registered in the database and also have your Nursing Assistant certification number handy as well as a valid email address. Certifications expire of the 28th day of your birth month.
The cost to renew is $40 for every 2-year period, but these fees are subject to change. You will be notified in the event that the fees change.
